The next Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in MC 3003.

All members of the UW community are invited to try their programming skill in Racket, C, C++, Java, Pascal, Python or Scala!

The results of this local contest will be used to select the UW teams for the international ACM competition. We will send three or more teams of three students each to the East Central North America Regional in Windsor on October 27–28, 2017.

The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science will hold its annual Cheriton Research Symposium September 28–29, 2017 in the Davis Centre.

This year's research symposium will consist of talks by industry leaders and members of the School. If you missed a talk, don't worry. We video recorded them and have embedded the videos at the bottom of the page.

The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science invites its graduate students along with faculty and staff to the annual Computer Science BBQ, Thursday September 14, 2017.

Location change: Because of a concurrent Feds event, the Computer Science Graduate Student BBQ will take place at the DC Quad. Tables and chairs will be set up in the DC foyer.

The BBQ starts at 4:45 p.m. and will run until dark.

The annual Bridges Conference, will be hosted this year by the University of Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics.

This conference brings together an interdisciplinary group of mathematicians, scientists, artists, educators, musicians, writers, computer scientists, sculptors, dancers, weavers, model builders, weavers and many others in an atmosphere of mutual exchange and inspiration. 300 participants from six continents will gather in Waterloo.

As part of the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the Waterloo Computer Museum has assembled a display of retired hardware in MC 3011. 

You’ll see everything from an enormous slide rule, early core memory and disk drive storage devices to IBM mainframe consoles to the Commodore SuperPET, early laptops and desktop computers.
