Mathematics Education Seminar • Using Live Demos in GeoGebra to Animate Abstract Concepts in Calculus

Thursday, February 14, 2019 10:30 am - 10:30 am EST (GMT -05:00)

Rich Dlin
Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing

In the 2018 fall term, Rich taught MATH 137 and is now teaching MATH 138. He has a lot of fun (and spends perhaps too many hours) developing GeoGebra examples to investigate and demonstrate concepts in calculus, which the students have really appreciated.

Rich is happy to share every example, and/or to discuss ways to improve them. He is also happy for other instructors to use them in their classes. Most of the examples are dynamic, so they require some live manipulation/narration. Since they were all created by Rich, for Rich, they are not all necessarily "out-of-the-box" usable, and require some guidance, which is the main focus of the presentation.
