What is Hack the North?

Hack the North is Canada’s largest international hackathon, running 36 hours straight and involving over 1000 hackers.

It’s organized entirely by students and hosted at Waterloo. It’s open to all undergraduates from all schools—even if you live outside Canada.

If you don’t know what a hackathon is, it’s an event where people come together to create teams and solve problems using code. They’re short and intense, and they're a great way to get to build skills, meet people, and have fun. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a first-time participant, everyone at the event will be learning lots and hacking hard!

Everyone is invited

Undergraduates from all countries, schools, years, majors, or specializations are welcome to apply and participate.

No experience? No problem! Workshops, talks, and mentors will be offered to help you and your team with your project.

100% free

It’s completely free to come and participate in this event.

Registration will be done the day of the event; just show up early! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
