The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science has been ranked second in Canada and 15th globally in the latest U.S. News and World Report Best Global Universities assessment. The scores evaluate 1,250 universities across 74 countries and are the largest and most comprehensive assessment of research universities worldwide.

In addition to assessing the world’s top universities overall, the fourth annual Best Global Universities rankings include an examination across 22 subject-specific areas, including computer science. The rankings focus on reputation and academic research in the field and aim to help an increasing number of international students accurately compare institutions around the world.

“The most recent assessment of computer science schools, which places the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science 15th globally out of 200 computer science school and departments, is a testament to our reputation and the quality of research we conduct,” said Mark Giesbrecht, Director of the David R. “As the largest concentration of academic computer science researchers in Canada, our faculty members and graduate students are consistently publishing transformational research that becomes integrated into the everyday lives of Canadians. We are proud that Waterloo’s School of Computer Science is being recognized nationally and globally and foresee even greater impact of our research in the future.”
