Funding graduate studies

As a graduate student in the University of Waterloo, it is important that you are aware of both the funding you can expect as income and the costs associated with your program.

Graduate Funding

All full-time MMath and PhD students in the School of Computer Science receive funding packages. The amount of funding received will vary depending on your program and your status as a domestic or international student.

Further, all students are considered for admission scholarships when offered entry to a graduate program. Students are encouraged to apply for other internal and external scholarships to help fund their graduate studies.

Graduate Tuition and Fees

Tuition fees are listed one term at a time and are subject to change on an annual basis by the University of Waterloo. Please note that students admitted to a qualifying or non-degree program pay fees at the per-course fee corresponding to their program.

Co-operative education costs

During work terms, students are enrolled on a part-time basis and will pay part-time tuition & fees. An additional fee in the amount of $786.00 per four-month work-term will be charged to students using the services of Co-operative Education and Centre for Career Action.

Other Costs

Beyond tuition and fees, students should consider other living costs incurred throughout their graduate study. Please review the following resources for approximate cost of living information.
