Master’s Research Paper Presentation • Software Engineering — Case Study on University of Waterloo’s Quest — A Requirement Engineering and User Experience Investigation and Lessons LearnedExport this event to calendar

Monday, December 7, 2020 1:30 PM EST

Please note: This master’s research paper presentation will be given online.

Yilun Bai, Master’s candidate
David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science

Supervisor: Professor Daniel M. Berry

In this paper, I performed a case study on my own school’s Student Information System (SIS) – Quest, to detect problems and give out suggestions. I examined both the old and the new versions of the system using Use Case (UC) and User Scenario (US) task-based testing. I found out multiple problems with Quest, analyzed them with the help of related Requirement Engineering (RE) and Human-Computer Interactions (HCI) literature reviews, and gave out suggestions to address those issues and lessons the Quest team could learn from. All findings and suggestions were sent back to the Quest team for future improvements.
