Memory management in multicore systems is a well studied area. Many approaches to memory management have been developed and tuned with specific hardware architectures in mind, capitalizing on hardware characteristics to improve performance. In this thesis, the focus is on memory allocation and reclamation in multicore systems.

Parametric polymorphism, also known as generics, is an abstraction that lets programmers define code that behaves independently of the types of values it operates on. Generics is a useful abstraction to enable code reuse and improve the maintainability of software projects.

Meet Yang Lu, a professor who uses machine learning to deduce the structure and function of proteins and genes

Yang Lu joined the Cheriton School of Computer Science as an Assistant Professor in 2023. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher in Professor William Noble’s genome sciences group at the University of Washington. He obtained his PhD in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics under the supervision of Professor Fengzhu Sun at the University of Southern California. Before moving to the United States, he completed his MS and BS in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
