Welcome to my blog...It's more of an occasional-random-quirky-thought blog or a check-out-this-cool-link blog
than one of those this-is-what-i-had-for-breakfast-today-and-these-are-my-feelings-about-life blogs and
it's definitely not one of those awful i'm-useful-and-have-important-things-to-say-and-i'm-contributing-to-society blogs. Enjoy.

Okay... so I went to see if I won anything in the BC Cancer Foundation Lottery... I entered my last name, and Yeah! Tompkins won 2 things. -sigh- looked closer. Wrong Tompkins. Who would have thought?

There was a story a few days ago about DVD sales of Family Guy possibly bringing back the series... but I wasn't expecting an editorial in the NATIONAL POST. As Quagmire would say... Allll right!

Oh boy... this Rumour Mill Post is the first I've heard of it -- on the upcoming star wars DVD, it's possible that "Han shoots first" again. I can't wait!
Wow. I didn't know Sarah Silverman plays poker. I think I love her even more now. This looks like a fun show.

So the new Much Dance 2004 just came out and -sigh- not a good "dave" dance song in there. It's almost all hip-hop. These discs are getting worse every year.

Ransom Note and blurry
Okay, I'm about to begin reading Dude, Where's my Country? and I was curious about the sequal Seriously Dude, Where's My Car? that was being rumoured... but -sigh- it doesn't look like it will made.

Here is a picture of my new girlfriend (damn... she only ships to the United States)
That thong song. Animated. Safe for work.
Okay I thought Bono's Superbowl American Flag Stunt was bit much -- especially because he's Irish, not American... but what the hell is he going to do, drop his pants and show Canadian Flag / Liberal Party Boxers at the Paul Martin Victory Party?

This month Maxim Magazine published a guide to throwing a Bachelor Party in Vancouver.

Yeah... this website is back up! Thanks Erik.
So I've been reading a lot of Phillip K. Dick short stories (and rediscovering the joy of short stories) and I'm about 40% through his collected works. One of my absolute favourites that I came across just a week or two ago is called Paycheck -- a cool time-traveling type story about an engineer who voluntarily has his memory erased. As soon as I read it, I thought: this would make a wicked movie! Well, lo and behold... someone was listening to me, and the trailer just came out for Paycheck the movie. Filmed right here in Vancouver, no less. But Ugh: John Woo with Ben Affleck. I'm just not one of those super-crazy-double-gun-toting John Woo fanboys. In fact, I don't have a single one of his movies (but I wouldn't mind a copy of The Killer). Oh, well, it looks like the movie is only loosely based on the short story, and based on the trailer, I'll try not to get my expectations up too high.
