Visibull Digital Signage
(Old) Kiosk Setup
Overview
These notes are for the older custom-designed kiosk that we had in our Great Hall. That equipment has been retired, although the web page it used still exists. The current digital signage uses Visibull (see above)
- KioskShutdownReboot - notes on shutting down or rebooting the CS kiosks
- KioskHard Kiosk Hardware Specifications and other machine installation issues
- KioskConf Kiosk Configuration
- KioskEventsDisplay - describes how the kiosk displays events on the upper screen
- The kiosk website is part of the SCS website, that lives in:

/.software/regional/wwwdata_cs.uwaterloo.ca/data/vhosts/cs/kiosk
- it is available on any of the CS Core machines (eg: cpu102, cpu104, etc.)
- Make pictures for each link to next pages
- using
/cs/kiosk/image_screen.jpg
for all pictures as the base image
- sample photos that are suitable for use as links can be found in the Kiosk Slideshow, available on
\\smb-files.cs\cs_kiosk_slideshow
- a copy of those photos can currently be found in
... /cs/kiosk/KioskSlideshow
- the images then need to be resized to fit into the base image
- Layout of each page includes
- -- header -- is a table with one row and 2 columns, displaying the UW logo, the CS banner and the Math Faculty banner.
- -- page header -- is a table with one row and one column, explaining the topic for each page.
- -- primary nav -- is a table with a width of 900. The number of rows and columns varies based on the number of link images on that page
- -- footer -- on secondary pages has a picture of a kiosk and a link back to the main page.
- make sure the files are "world readable"
- login to one of the CS Core servers
