The Shoshin lab manages their own infrastructure for the most part. They have their own subnet 129.97.105/24 which is routed by a Shoshin System "little.uwaterloo.ca" (addresses 129.97.105.1 and 129.97.7.9). At the time of writing (2007-8-22) there is some confusion about appropriate names for these addresses (eg 129.97.7.9 has address gw-flashnet, which is likely unnecessary).
Subnet 105 is routed via subnet 7 which is behind our firewall. Because Shoshin has their own firewall and manages it actively, we grant full permissions for all traffic in all zones to be propagated to them.
Shoshin runs its own DHCP zone for subnet 105. We have no interaction with this. There are a few addresses that have UW DNS names associated, but in general we have nothing to do with how that IP space is managed.
Shoshin has a number of servers in dc3556. They are the servers in the locked racks. One key opens all of the racks. There is a copy in the CSCF key safe.
The Shoshin lab has its own patch panels in dc3552a which are terminated in dc3556 (panels X and Y) in Rack 1). Roughly speaking, the topology is as follows.
The port labels on panels X and Y in dc3556 correspond to those in dc3552a.
Nabeel has one of his APs deployed in the Shoshin lab. It is patched from one of the panel X ports through to dc3558. It does not interact with the Shoshin lab network.
Shoshin has an IP-addressable KVM (shoshin-kvm1.cs) connected to their systems in dc3556. The password is in the card file in the key vault.
