Overview

The Shoshin lab manages their own infrastructure for the most part. They have their own subnet 129.97.105/24 which is routed by a Shoshin System "little.uwaterloo.ca" (addresses 129.97.105.1 and 129.97.7.9). At the time of writing (2007-8-22) there is some confusion about appropriate names for these addresses (eg 129.97.7.9 has address gw-flashnet, which is likely unnecessary).

Servers

Shoshin has a number of servers in dc3556. They are the servers in the locked racks. One key opens all of the racks. There is a copy in the CSCF key safe.

Wiring infrastructure

The Shoshin lab has its own patch panels in dc3552a which are terminated in dc3556 (panels X, Y and Z) in Rack 1). Roughly speaking, the topology is as follows.

• an upstream feed from vlan 7 comes through Rack1-panelA from dc3558. It feeds into the upstream site of the vlan 105 router (little).
• the vlan 105 downstream then returns to one of the Shoshin switches in Rack1, where it is distributed to the other servers in dc3556, and back to dc355a via panels X and Y.
