ownCloud is a PHP-based service that allows you to sync your files across different computers. Smartphone support is in progress.
ownCloud is different from other hosting solutions as it can be run entirely from a local machine under your control.

Server setup

To install ownCloud on an Ubuntu server, use the setup script provided here:

This will let Ubuntu check the official ownCloud repos for updates.
The script also installs the package php5-ldap for AD support.
