Setting up the Xerox WorkCentre 5335 Printer

- CSCF's Xerox WorkCentre 5335: cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca
- Director's Assistant: scsadmin-dc2325.cs.uwaterloo.ca

Install printer on Windows XP
Method 1: Print direct via IP
Method 1A
- Note: 2008/11/10 (lfolland) verified that this process works on XP
- Start -> Printers -> "Add a Printer"
- "Welcome" -> Next
- Select "Local printer attached to this computer" (even though it isn't!)
- Uncheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer"
- -> Next
- Select "Create a new port" -> Select "Standard TCP/IP port" -> Next
- "Welcome to Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" -> Next
- printer name or IP address:
- eg: cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca or scsadmin-dc2325.cs.uwaterloo.ca
- it will fill in the port name with the name or IP with a leading "IP_" -> Next
- "Completing ... Wizard" -> Finish
- Select the printer model -> Have Disk
- Browse to the folder your unzipped the Xerox driver to -> Next
- Select "Xerox WorkCentre 5335 PCL 6"
- Name the printer what you like
Method 2: Print via CUPS on XP
The CSCF printer is also defined as a CUPS print queue, so it can be accessed via lpr
- You will need to add the Unix LPR service and then add the printer using LPR
- For the name of the printer, use: cscflp01
Install printer on Windows 7
- run the installer WC5325-5335_5.230.5.0_PS_x64.exe (attached to this page)
- accept the various licence and location dialogs. If prompted for permission to run the installer, allow it to run.
- the "Add Printer" wizard start automatically
- choose "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer"
- you can wait if you want to, but it's OK to press "stop" to cancel the search
- -> "The Printer I want Isn't listed"
- -> "Select a shared printer by name" (fill this in: e.g. for the CSCF printer, enter "http://cups1.cs.uwaterloo.ca:631/printers/cscflp01") -> Next
- add Printer Wizard -> Have Disk
- browse to the folder created by running the above installer (default is "C:\Xerox\WC5325-5335_PS_x64_Driver.inf") -> Next
- select "x2GSANP.inf" -> Open -> OK
- select "Xerox WorkCentre 5335 PS" -> OK -> Next
- set this as your default if you wish; print a test page if you wish -> Finish

Printing via cups1.cs.uwaterloo.ca (preferred) - Example
- Download PPD file
- Open http://127.0.0.1:631/printers in a web browser
- Administration TAB
- Add Printer
- Internet Printing Protocol (ipp) -> Continue
- ipp://cups1.cs.uwaterloo.ca/printers/cscflp01
- Name: CSCF_Xerox_WorkCentre_5335_DC2560g
- Description: CSCF's Xerox WorkCentre 5335
- Location: DC2560g, CSCF hardware lab -> Continue
- Or Provide a PPD File: -> Browse (to the PPD file) -> Add Printer
- Enter an Admin user and password (your own if in /etc/sudoers)
- Set Printer Options -> Set Default Options
Direct Printing to cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca (if you can't use cups1.cs as above) - Example
- Download PPD file
- Open http://127.0.0.1:631/printers in a web browser
- Administration TAB
- Add Printer
- LPD/LPR Host or Printer -> Continue
- socket://cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca:9100
- Name: CSCF_Xerox_WorkCentre_5335_DC2560g
- Description: CSCF's Xerox WorkCentre 5335
- Location: DC2560g, CSCF hardware lab -> Continue
- Or Provide a PPD File: -> Browse (to the PPD file) -> Add Printer
