Setting up the Xerox Workcentre Pro 123/128 Printer on Windows
Note: This printer is gone now - see XeroxWorkCentre5335 instead
CS Xerox printers
(Note: we will need a list of names and IP addresses for the printers involved. - Lawrence)

Install printer on Windows XP
Method 1: Print direct via IP
Method 1A
- Note: 2008/11/10 (lfolland) verified that this process works on XP
- Start -> Printers -> "Add a Printer"
- "Welcome" -> Next
- Select "Local printer attached to this computer" (even though it isn't!)
- Uncheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer"
- -> Next
- Select "Create a new port" -> Select "Standard TCP/IP port" -> Next
- "Welcome to Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" -> Next
- printer name or IP address:
- eg: cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca or scsadmin-dc2325.cs.uwaterloo.ca
- it will fill in the port name with the name or IP with a leading "IP_" -> Next
- "Completing ... Wizard" -> Finish
- Select the printer model -> Have Disk
- Browse to the folder your unzipped the Xerox driver to -> Next
- Select "Xerox WorkCentre Pro 128 PCL 6"
- Name the printer what you like
Method 1B
- open a Windows Explorer window
- enter: \\cscflp01.cscf or \\scsadmin-dc2325.cs
- right-click on CSCFLP01.C-P or SCSADMIN-D-P
- choose Open
- Select the printer model -> Have Disk
- Browse to the folder your unzipped the Xerox driver to -> Next
- Select "Workcentre Pro 128 PCL 6"
- Name the printer what you like
Method 2: Print via CUPS on XP
The CSCF printer is also defined as a CUPS print queue, so it can be accessed via lpr
- You will need to add the Unix LPR service and then add the printer using LPR
- For the name of the printer, use: lp_cscf-private - Note: this is the printer in Bill's office, not the Xerox
Install printer on Windows Vista
- Start -> Settings -> Printers -> Add Printer
- Add a network,Wireless or Bluetooth Printer -> "The Printer I want Isn't listed" -> Next
- Add a printer uning TCP/IP address or hostname -> Next
- Hostname or IP address: (fill this in) -> Next
- Install Printer Driver -> Have Disk
- Browse to the folder your unzipped the Xerox driver to -> Next
- Select "Workcentre Pro 128 PCL 6"
- Name the printer what you like
- Continue when you get the Administrative Access Prompt
- Print Test page if you wish
- Finish
Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10
- System > Administration > Printing
- In CUPS Printer Configuration select the "New" button
- Under Network Printer select LPD/LPR Host or Printer
- In the Host: text box enter cscflp01.cscf.uwaterloo.ca
- Select printer from database: choose Xerox
- Choose Workcenter Pro 128
- Installable Options to select Duplex Mode
