Configuring Thunderbird Calendar (Lightning) to use Exchange (Connect)

WORKING SOLUTION AS OF 2018/06/01
Ensure Thunderbird is up to Date
Windows Users
- Open Thunderbird
- Help -> About
- It will check for updates, if available apply them
- Click Close
Ubuntu Users
- Open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T on GNOME/Unity)
- Type: sudo -s, Enter
- add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-new, press Enter
- Confirm adding
- apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, Enter
- Confirm any upgrades
Install Lightning and Exchange Plugin
- Open Thunderbird
- Tools -> Add-ons
- Search for Lightning, (press Enter to search)
- Click Show all XX results (at bottom of page)
- Install the first one listed (Lightning, Featured) (hover over its entry, click Add to Thunderbird)
- Click Install
- Close the All Results tab
- Search for Exchange
- Install Provider for Microsoft Exchange
- Click Restart Now
- Thunderbird will restart, both plugins are installed
- Close the two Add-ons tab
Setup Exchange (Connect) Calendar
- Events and Tasks -> Calendar
- File -> New -> Calendar
- On the Network -> Next
- Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 -> Next
- Preferences: Whatever you want (name, color, reminders)
- Email: Your @uwaterloo.ca email address -> Next
- Server URL: https://connect.uwaterloo.ca/ews/exchange.asmx
- Primary email address: Your @uwaterloo.ca
- Username: Your WatIAM userid
- Domain name: NEXUS
- Share folder Id: Leave Blank
- Check server and mailbox -> Next
Debug, Ubuntu 16.04
If the previous procedure doesn't work:
- Remove "Provider for Microsoft Exchange" from add-ons
- Download plugin from Ericsson/exchangecalendar v3.9.0 (or more recent) https://github.com/Ericsson/exchangecalendar/releases
- Install using menu-->Add-ons, from settings (up right) "add-on from a localfile "
- Restart Thunderbird
- Open Calendar Tab
- Right click in the calendars section and choose "new calendar".
- Choose "On the network"
- Choose Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010/2013
...
- Exchange type "hosted Exchange"
- Check: Use Exchange autodiscovery function and click on "perform autodiscovery"
- It should show "https://connect.uwaterloo.ca/EWS/Exchange.asmx" select it.
- Enter "user Name" and click on "Check Server and Mailbox"
- If no error, click on "Next" and "Finish"
