Teaching Schedule Term Update
https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/cscf/teaching/schedule needs to be manually kept in sync with the Registrar's official timetable, replacing the "default" term and the "unofficial" term. The teaching schedule page is meant to be a more user-friendly version of the campus-wide timetable, with human-readable terms rather than internal term codes. Default term is meant to be the term students will next be choosing courses for; and "unofficial" is the following term. However, depending on Registrar schedule update cycles, default can be the current term and unofficial is next term.
This website update is done midway through the term, after the Registrar's Office has updated the term list at
https://info.uwaterloo.ca/infocour/CIR/SA/under.html .
Historically this has happened "after the Drop/Add period (that is, about 3-4 weeks into the term)" and CSCF has made the update two months into the term. However as of
March 2014, we notice the update has slipped past two months into the term, but less than three months. So we need to check the above Registrar page to determine when to do the update.
Process:
1. Two months into the term, start checking
https://info.uwaterloo.ca/infocour/CIR/SA/under.html and if "unofficial term" is no longer the next term, proceed to step 2. Otherwise, check back in one or two weeks.
2. as root in the core environment, edit the schedule pages following the model in
ST#89200.
3. Update the corresponding ST item with the changes; make a see-also ST item from that item, with the requester bwbecker, due-date 4 months in the future, assigned as appropriate. (currently: drallen. It has also been done by ijmorlan).
