Verifying AV products installed in Security Center

  • Open Control Panel
  • Open Security Center
  • Under Malware protect Click on the down arrow to expand the list of AV products on your system. If you see invalid entries for prducts that you know have been uninstalled proceed to the next section

Removing Invalid AV Entries from Security Center

It is common to find unwanted entries in security Center that remain after uninstalling an AntiVirus product. This section outlines how to remove them
  • Search for wbemtest.exe (located in %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem)
  • Rightclick on wbemtest.exe and pick Run as Administrator
  • Click on Connect Button
  • Edit Namespace root\SecurityCenter
  • Click on Connect Button
  • Click on Enum Instantces Button
  • Enter SuperClass name AntiSpyWareProduct
  • Click on OK Button
  • The Query Result Window will open. In order to find out what products belongs to each entry you have - highlight and double click on them one at a time. Note the displayName and companyName for the selected entry and them Click on the Close button. If this entry is unwanted Delete it.
