Help Desk Assistance
This page will outline the various things I do to help the CSCF Help Desk.
General Duties
Equipment Loaning
From time to time students, staff and faculty will come to the Help Desk looking to loan out a piece of equipment.
This can include:
- Laptops
- Video cables or adapters
- Portable hard drives
- Hard drive docks
- Keyboards/Mice
Equipment loaning is pretty simple.
- Open Inventory
- Search Inventory for the barcode you wish to loan out
- In the right corner, there is a button for Check Out
- Click it
- Under given to, enter the WatIAM user ID of whoever is loaning it
- Under ST's, enter any ST related to the loan
- Under Due Date, set a Due Date that is acceptable for the loaner's needs
- Under comment, put any comments that are relevant
- I.e needs this for a conference, etc.

Help Desk Guide
This is a guide for the CSCF Help Desk, which I have used on occasion to help clients when the CSCF Help Desk co-op was unavailable.
Kiosk Administration
The CSCF Help Desk Kiosk is currently running on CS007964, a 42" LG
SmartTV. It is running on ethernet alone, connected to VLAN 420, and running on the TV's built in Internet browser.
The administration part comes from the fact that for some reason the TV turns itself off every few days. In order to restart it:
- Turn on the TV
- Press Home on the remote
- Navigate to Internet
- Click on cscfhelp in Recent Pages
- Click is pressing the rolling button in the middle
- Click on the triangle in the Top Right corner of the screen
- This is as close to Fullscreen as you can get this system
I am administrator for the TV as I sit closest to it.
DC 2608 Organization
I have worked hard to maintain organization and cleanliness of DC 2608 to keep it looking neat and professional. Most of the work for this was done in
ST# 93463.
