Making a disk image
- Make all the necessary software changes as are current at this time
- Run Nortons Live Update
- Empty trash
- Clear all caches by booting to single user mode (Apple and S keys held down during booting) and run applejack command at black screen.
- Run DiskWarrior on Macintosh HD
- It is important that a bootimage be as clean as possible before cloning it
- Check the hard drive to make sure all folders are closed and it looks as you would want it to be.
- Attach a firewire drive with multiple partitions
- Turn off Norton Utilities from menu MUST
- All programs other than CCC should be stopped
- Open Carbon Copy Cloner
- Set Carbon Copy cloner Preferences to
Create a disk image on Traget
Prepare for Apple Software Restore
Read-only compressed
- Select The source Disk
- Select the Destination disk a firewire drive
- This will take some time 1 hour or more
- After image has been created Copy Image to Pippin and store in ASR folder. Change name to i.e. Spring05.dmg or appropriate name to indicate a new image.
