2005-1-4, trg (TrevorGrove): I would like to suggest the following changes to the Windows standard image for CS Grad PCs (probably applicable for other standard images, too):

1. remove the WINS server definitions
2. add the "Logoff" button to the start menu (task-bar option)
3. change the mechanism for the default domain specification from the current "per connection" to the "network identification" and add network-specific suffices as required
4. fix the DNS server addresses to 128.100 and 128.10

2005-1-10, trg (TrevorGrove): Another request:

1. install ad-aware and/or other spyware detectors and set them up to run on a schedule

2005-2-1, trg (TrevorGrove): Yet another request:

1. there is a class of system hijack technology that relies on the ability to replace the local "hosts" file (LMHOSTS, used for DNS resolution) so that allegedly safe names are in fact directed elsewhere. The use of LMHOSTS can be disabled, and I recommend that this be the default, or a least that we have a discussion about the issue.
