DRCSCS Research Directory Update

Your profile in the CS Research Directory is edited in the following way.

OFIS is a web system that allows faculty to consolidate information useful for various reports. Your 2008 CS Research Profile has already been uploaded. Among other things, your additions/changes will be useful when CS needs to produce the next round of OCGS Reports in 2012.

  1. Go to: https://ofis.uwaterloo.ca/OFIS/webpage/cs/webpage.php and log in with your WatIAM id and password.
  2. Go through each section in turn; when you are finished, the "Publish" link will create or edit the profile on the CS web server. At any point, hit "Preview" for a close approximation of the output. From the Preview page, the red left-arrow icon will return you to the Profile Editing page.
  3. If you have questions about any section on the page, see below:
    • Academic Background can be entered as follows:
      1. Follow the link to the "Academic Background" tab. Choose "New."
      2. Choose degree type (e.g., Doctorate).
      3. Fill in Institution, Country, Date (year/month) graduated, and Field. Change "Display on Web" to "Yes".
      4. Repeat for Doctorate, Master's, and Bachelor's degrees.
    • Representative Publications can be entered as follows:
      1. Please select a maximum of five representative publications.
      2. Follow the link to the "Contributions" tab. Choose "New."
      3. Choose the best fitting contribution type.
      4. For "Would you like this Contribution to be displayed on your webpage?" choose "Yes" to have it appear in the research book.
      5. You must enter all three "Year" fields.
      6. Copy and paste your publication entry into the next field as you want it to appear.
      7. Near the top of the page, choose the "SAVE" button.
      8. To remove older publications from your selected publications, choose the "Edit" button on the Publications page. It looks like a pencil. Change "Would you like this Contribution to be displayed on your webpage?" to "No" and choose "SAVE" near the top.
      9. For batch publication entry, you can use the "BibTeX Import" tab on the left-hand side. Instructions are provided on that page. Be sure to select "Show on Web" for the items to be included in your public profile.
    • Major Awards are entered as follows:
      1. Follow the link to the "Awards And Recognitions" tab. Choose "New."
      2. Select the award name from the drop-down and description to appear on your profile. "Other Pertinent Information" can be left blank. Enter the year or range of years, change "Display on Web" to "yes" and choose "SAVE".
    • Your profile's sections ("Research Interests", etc) can be updated, as described on the page.
    • Your Research Keywords can be updated, which become the "Index" section of the Research Directory. Go to the "Expertise" tab and edit the first section.

When your changes are complete, select "Publish" and your update will be live on the CS webserver. If you
skip this step, your changes will only be saved to the database, not published.
