Problems and Fixes for W10U16041-M5A99X-750G-W17-V1

Booting

• Problem: Windows cannot boot.
  1. Press DEL during startup to access the BIOS, then F7 to access the Advanced Mode.
  2. Navigate to Boot, then Secure Boot, and select 'Other OS'.
  3. Navigate back to Boot, and then select CSM support, and change the 2nd option to LegacyROM only.
  4. Save and restart.

• Problem: Ubuntu goes into emergency mode upon booting. This is caused by Windows hibernating the NTFS partition instead of shutting it down.
  1. Boot into Windows
  2. Navigate to Power Options -> Choose what the power buttons do -> Change settings that are currently unavailable, then uncheck the Fast Startup Mode box.
  3. Save and apply changes, then shutdown (NOT RESTART).

Windows

• Problem: Microsoft Office cannot activate.
  1. type \\asimov in the search box and login.
  2. Navigate to IMAGES/SITE_LICENSES
  3. Find the Office 2013 license and apply it to one of the Office utilities.

Linux

• Problem: Cannot lock the apt lists file.
  1. Try sudo pkill apt, and wait for a little bit.
  2. Re-run apt upgrade.
