OFIS Notes from 30 March, 2011
Today
Vu: everything is working under the new (relocatable) code except delegation; working on that.
Daniel: shall we set up additional vhost on ecdev for our checkouts?
- ofisdev - ray will request self-signed cert from IST
- will be installed with latest PHP (php removed 'split' and 'reg_match' - may need recoding). ray and vu will work on this.
Marlon: cs prof reported 3 students not his; our import data says they are his. Daniel/Marlon are following up with Margaret Towell. (Margaret reported error source back to Marlon).
Olga: Meeting scheduling:
- next week: 11am Wednesday 5th: Andrew will demo dbworkbench.
- following week: Tuesday 12th 1:30pm.
- and onward: Tuesday (starting 19th) 1pm-2pm.
Marlon: further data/bugs with grad students..
* routing errors through dep't admins to correct in OFIS: GSO says we need to fill in an electronic form. GSO listens to dept sources as authoritative sources.
- 3-way coordinating: prof, dept, GSO
- workflow is complicated. do we really need the admin to fill in a RTF, or is an email to the GSO sufficient?
- info is just based on 5-minute conversation; further investigation needed.
- Olga: workflow tracking will be important. do we want to do this via sharepoint?
- (Marlon: found joget - open-source workflow tool?) Do we need these capabilities yet? No; we're probably OK doing workflow dev using OFIS PHP framework. for now.
- this term's GSO data isn't imported yet, because Marlon's working on data fixes; hopeful for next week. ...or should imports happen later: in 1st month of new term?.. but profs want data immediately?...
- Vu will look into how many faculty produced reports this year (vs. last year)?
- Says only 30 faculty produced their merit reports in OFIS. That seems way down from previous years.
