OFIS Notes from 16 February, 2011

Today

New staff to work on OFIS, at end of month: Steph Sempson, currently Science Computing support.

Vu: his new project is automating manual data entry for new grad students, calculations on it, taking nearly all of his time, possibly until fall. Working on OFIS path fix to allow retargetable code; hopes to have done soon.

Daniel: will bug ray about access to ecserv for hg. Discussion of yesterday's email to the list with HR/watiam data import problems; Ray's proposal sounds good (similar to: https://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/twiki/view/CF/OfisNotes28Oct2010 ): we then store three pieces of data with timestamps, to reconcile/merge (or tell the user "which one is authoritative?")

Marlon: Brenda Macdonald says 1 month delay for meeting with Office of Research; they have growing pains with new system.

Michael: 95% reported errors in Errors table are errors at source.

Marlon: converting for compatibility with pgres: 'serial' type would be useful, for person_id. can we try converting? Ray will make it so with a dump/restore.

• Marlon wants to have daily watiam and HR imports; working on code for it.
  • Daniel will check for vic d in import hr_load and watiam: daily update; should be correct.
• Can we figure out system for handling contradictory data before we have to talk with Office of Research in a month?
