OFIS Notes from 15 Apr 2009
- discussed UI issues for new version, if the user is cross-listed in more than one faculty (and has admin powers in both; ex., Olga).
- noted specific questions on Engr student-evaluation forms (different from Math's).
- showed PvB's filled-in activity report;
- noted that activity report (all yearly activity) doesn't usually have common data with research directory (exemplary activity).
- Question: do different professors put their data in the same formats as PvB?...
- Also: how consistant are prof data sources for research book entries?
Past Tasks:
- Daniel: test latex2rtf from http://www.tug.org/utilities/texconv/textopc.html
<-- won't work; latex2rtf doesn't attach included packages, necessary to produce tables...
- Daniel: Ask Frank about post-preprocessing data format <-- asked.
- Daniel: Bring PvB's filled in Annual Activity Report(s) to next week's meeting.
- Does this have any common text with his Research Directory entry? <-- not typically; activity report (all yearly activity) doesn't usually have common data with research directory (exemplary activity).
- Daniel: mail text source data (for research book) to ofis mailing list <-- done.
Upcoming Tasks
- Daniel: Further investigation of http://www.tug.org/utilities/texconv/textopc.html
- Daniel: figure out which Engineering prof(s) and admin(s) to talk to ; maybe do a few SQL queries on DB to see who is using it?
- Daniel: response from Frank about processed data.
- Daniel: is the format of Peter Van Beek's annual report, similar enough to other profs? Ask other prof(s).
- Daniel: how much pre-processing is required on research book .txt, to make the data work for the parser? Ask Bill? Peter?
