OFIS Notes from 13 January, 2011

Today

Marlon: wants meeting with Colin & Daniel to discuss philosophy of revision control (re: rollbacks and keeping some changes?) - set time offline.

  • meet with Wayne Oldford, on a variety of problems. $0 dollar grants: should they show in interface? yes; will show on web, but not in reports.
  • Jack: back next term? lots of DB work.
  • Wayne found 2009 fall/spring teaching eval data missing. being reimported now.
  • Wayne's 6 missing students: did show up on web -> problem with building reports.
  • Wayne found student has 3 supervisors, wayne listed twice. suggests problem merging from names -> ID; marlon suggests we need to be doing more inspection / beta-testers.
    • Daniel: if we have admin staff reviewing information, as entered from other sources, it would meet a need for more data review. In the last week CS admin staff person has found (and corrected) many text errors in research-book process.

Vu: started working on rewrite of search tool. olga: what is the purpose?... we should talk about the spec first.

Daniel: fixing keywords: stalled due to other work and discovering how it's implemented. Vu can look at it; Daniel will email the spec to vu.

Vu: contribution type: implemented what he thought we were asking last week. discussion of strategy, and some rehash of last week.

Future tasks:

  • Daniel:
    • fill in Vu about research keywords
    • Marlon will say when he's reimporting the Faculty_member table; re-load my changed names.
    • survey a few faculty members: display on web?
    • ask OFIS crew: why published book has (accepted) date?
