Past CS tasks

• Daniel: Research Book proceeds.

Today:

• Daniel: will email OFIS list when CS profs get sent the email to update profiles
  • Marlon: adding new profs: needs empl-id.
  • Fixed formatting for CS;
  • Question about contributions: can I put CS-only contrib-format in form? (conference proceedings also?)
• Marlon: investigating postgres for better reporting tools
  • Jack: mysql -> postgres: would require command-line work; would need minor data conversion; possibly some mysql-specific code to update.
  • Beth: could we use sharepoint to do reporting? B/C Dean's office databases has 85% overlap w/OFIS; they don't want to use OFIS interface. So, perhaps some kind of 2-step process? She's hoping for end of August recommendations for Dean.
  • Marlon: saw something about MS PHP that allows PHP access to sharepoint?...

• Marlon: GSO cleanups. IST cleanup worked.
  • But: students with supervisor-ID of 0 == doesn't show up in OFIS. went from non-coursework (thesis) degree to coursework degree. OFIS shows thesis part and degree not completed.
  • student graduating in term not registered (b/c it's only a month): "big no-no; happens a lot": so OFIS identifies them by completed status.
  • if students change degree or supervisor, may appear as not-completed under your supervision.
  • maybe end of sept, reload GSO data with fixes.
• Beth: talked to Dean about talking to Faradun for support; will talk to Dean's Council about front-burner
• discussion of IAP being error-prone due to out-of-date.

• Daniel: fix profs records.
