University Office Portal for Office install and Downloads

• Login to portal.office.com
  • Use your University of Waterloo WatIAM credentials for the login - include @uwaterloo.ca with your userid
  • On the upper right Click on the account manager - the circle icon with your initials in it - this icon is below to the right of the three dots ...
    • Click view account
  • On left side of window click on Office Apps
  • Click on Install Office under Office Apps & devices
• After you installed Office the product should be automatically activate - you are done with this TWIKI

Office Activation

• Open an elevated command prompt as follows
  • Windows Search -> cmd.exe -> Right click on cmd -> Run as Administrator
• We need to find a file called ospp.vbs in the Microsoft Office Program Files directory
• It can be in one of two places located in a subdirectory of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office" or "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office"
• You can open each directory and use explorer to search for ospp.vbs

• You can search for it via command prompt
  • cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office"
  • dir ospp.vbs /s
  • cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office"
  • dir ospp.vbs /s
• Once you have the directory use the command prompt to change into it, for example:
  • cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16"
  • cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:officelic.uwaterloo.ca (this may fail - try the next command it normally works)
  • cscript ospp.vbs /act
• You should see the message Product activation successful
  • Restart any office programs to see the change

Mac Office Notes

• When downloaded the Mac Version of office you will see there are two packages
  • One is the the Office installer - the other is the office activation package
  • You must install office and then install the activation oackage * Example: “Microsoft_Office_2016_VL_Serializer_2.0.pkg”
