Adrian Pepper's Quick-Start Guide to Mailman List (Nearly) All Options

  • (rendered for 'sample' list)

Preface

The designers of mailman provide many other options to let you customize your list in various ways.

It turned out to be relatively easy to itemize them here, and reference the mailman documentation for them itself.

These don't need to be changed a lot, and usually if you do think you need to change some, you should do so in consultation with someone else.

In short, this was an interesting exercise, but in practice perhaps the main thing it proves is that Mailman is overly complicated.

It is actually like an appendix; useful reference material for those truly familiar with the basic material. In fact, it might be best used by maintainers of the MailManManagementGuide pages to help them extract particular help links for use (in reference pages dealing with those options it is wise to change in certain ways).

Here are listed the options as were available at the above URL on the date this page was created. Annotations should be added as appropriate. If one particular option requires a lot of notes, perhaps create a new page for it.
