GlobalSign Certificate Authority

GlobalSign Certificate Authority

GlobalSign is a certified certificate authority that provides publicly trusted X.509 compliant SSL certificates. It is currently the authority used by University of Waterloo IST.

As of mid-2016, such certicates must be either OrganizationSSL (for public IP addresses) or IntranetSSL (for private IP addresses). It is hoped that the extra work entailed in setting up a correct IntranetSSL chain results in increased security for that connection.
