Here are steps, in the Thunderbird mail reader, to create a mail account configured to use maildir.cs.uwaterloo.ca to store inbox and folders.
In several contexts, selecting Add [mail] account, will bring up a wizard which you should traverse as follows:
[x] Email account
[ ] RSS News & Blogs
[ ] Unix Mailspool (Movemail)
[ ] Newsgroup account
>Next>
Your Name: [Arnold Einstein]
Email Address: aeinstei@cs.uwaterloo.ca
>Next>
NOTE: eight character truncation of your userid must be used |
[ ]POP [x] IMAP
Incoming Server: [maildir.cs.uwaterloo.ca]
Your existing SMTP Server "mail.cs.uwaterloo.ca" will be used.
>Next>
Incoming User Name: [aeinstei]
Account Name: [Beta Test Maildir Account]
>Next>
NOTE: eight character truncation of your userid must be used |
>Finish>
NOTE: Outgoing Server (SMTP) tends to correctly default to mail.cs.uwaterloo.ca ( NOT maildir.cs.uwaterloo.ca ); if not, then set it explicitly in the appropriate place. |
Before using this account, find and click its ("Beta Test Maildir Account") "Server Settings" to modify them. Modify the following setting to select "SSL", and save it:
This will change Port from 143 to 993, which you want. |
