• Discussed plans to mitigate metadata OSD performance issues
  • See planned mitigations/experiments in a2brenna's comments on RT: 1275465
    • There's experimental development work underway by the Ceph developers to address the performance issue(s) of single threaded OSD journaling by implementing a new lockless OSD based on Bluestore. May not be useful for CSCF for many years, but indicates our approach is promising.
  • a2brenna hoping to release modified ceph-osd and ceph-mds packages for internal CSCF use with enhanced logging (to enable further progress on diagnosing 'Permission Denied' problems as documented in RT: 1242530) and disabled framepointer optimization (for better telemetry for diagnosing synchronization overhead).
    • hopefully in the next couple days
