Monitoring

Power information

  • M3 will have power
  • DC building will not have power, all systems will need to be turned off.
  • MC 3015 will have two 208v/30a circuits.
  • MC Labs to be powered off. - Dave will make sure room panel breakers are off before start of shutdown and back on once shutdown is over.

  • Authentication Services will be up
    • M3-3101 vmserver216.cscf.uwaterloo.ca means services will be up.
    • keeping mc3015 vmserver214.cscf.uwaterloo.ca up would be good.
    • Ubikey services will stay up given this power setup.

  • DFSc Services
    • as long as mc-3015-422 and supporting networking (hs100) is powered, service will be up.
    • power off *-421 systems, good to reconfigure layer 1 networking
    • Services bridges will also stay up:
      • Samba
      • Ganesha-NFS

  • nexus -samba services - mc-3015-202
    • good to keep but not necessary.

  • ubuntu1804*.cs.uwaterloo.ca and ubuntu2004*.cs.uwaterloo.ca will be up at reduced capacity (number of servers).
    • Guoxiang to remove and add any ubuntu*.cs.uwaterloo.ca host references from DNS round-robin setups starting Thursday evening.

  • Web services - mc-3015-202
    • Nathan and Lori to make sure all HAProxy systems have master service transferred to M3 systems.

  • SQL services
    • mysql - M3 is already master
      • mysql-archive is single instance in DC. Fraser will manage the down and up of service.
    • postgresql (OATdb)
      • will stay up, Monitoring by Steve (MFCF) and ISaac (CSCF)

  • DataSCI: will be down
    • Services and Systems down and up will be managed by Lori

  • Ugster: will be down
    • Services and Systems down and up will be managed by Fraser

  • vault
    • will stay up, monitored by Nathan & Lori

System and Services Down and Up Management

  • linux.cscf will be up during as it is in M3
  • systems providing no user-facing services can be powered off anytime after 17:00 (5pm) on Friday
  • systems providing user-facing services will not be powered off before 05:00 (5am) and no later 06:30 (6am) than on Saturday morning.
  • DC 3558 shutdown
    • power off: as above
    • power on: Saturday night, provided no hardware failures
  • Keeping as many *-20{1,2,3,5,411,422} up as possible
  • Dave will be on site during first 2 hours of shutdown and a 2-? hour and end of shutdown.
  • Windows will be managed by Clayton. Down and up times still to be announced.
  • Mac's host and services will be Devon. Devon to power down, Dave to power up - remember that this includes trashcan unit.

Netplan configuration for IPv6 Internet ports:

  • Note when setting up a host that has Internet addressing, please also include netplan configuration:
    • dhcp6: false
    • accept-ra: false

Should spelling packages "hunspell hunspell-en-ca" be included on all CSCF standard images or just general-use and web server systems?
