Adding Network Printer, such as Xerox
Download and install drivers
- download drivers from the vendor eg:
- Install Drivers ( Admin Acess is needed)
- Make sure that Printer Sharing is turned off System Preferences/Sharing/Services/Print Sharing
Add the printer
- Access Printer Setup Utility (/Applications/Utilities) on you Macintosh * select "Add"
- Select "IP printing" from Printer list (top menu)
- Printer type "LPD/LPR"
- Printer Address "129.97.XXX.XXX" (or its canonical name, eg: ljp-cs-3)
- Queue Name "lp" (only for Ricoh printers, which have an internal queue)
- Select applicable printer model from list
- Apply changes
- After printer is added Select "Show Info" and verify everything is correct, then...
Add printer options
- Select "Installable Options"
- Activate the installed options as machine functions dictate (duplexing, for instance)
- Apply Changes and close window
Notes for Mac users
- make sure that the Ricoh has a PostScript2 board installed
