Using IT Assistant

Dell OpenManage™ IT Assistant User's Guide

NOTE: Do not press the <F5> key to refresh the IT Assistant screen. Pressing <F5> logs you out of IT Assistant by refreshing the Internet Explorer browser. Click Refresh in the upper right corner of the IT Assistant main window to refresh IT Assistant.
NOTE: Do not use the Internet Explorer toolbar buttons (such as Back and Refresh) while using Dell OpenManage IT Assistant. Click Back or Refresh in the upper right corner of the IT Assistant main window to perform these functions.

To open an additional IT Assistant browser window, do one of the following:

  • For systems running both the IT Assistant browser-based user interface and the IT Assistant services, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Dell OpenManage Applications, point to IT Assistant, and click IT Assistant.

  • For systems running only the IT Assistant browser-based user interface, click the Start button, point to Programs, and click Internet Explorer. After Internet Explorer starts, enter the universal resource locator (URL) of the default IT Assistant Web page in the Address field.
NOTE: Do not use the following Internet Explorer menu commands or their keyboard equivalents. These actions cause IT Assistant to behave in unexpected ways:
  • File® New® Window menu command or <Ctrl><n> on your keyboard

  • File® Save As menu command
