Chassis Intrusion Alert

If a remote system in the client network has an integrated chassis intrusion alarm, IT Assistant alerts system administrators when the system’s cover has been removed.

When an alert is detected for a system, IT Assistant updates the system status indicator displayed in the systems window.

To clear a chassis intrusion alert, perform the following steps:

  1. In the IT Assistant navigation tree, expand the Configuration branch and click System Configuration.

  2. In the system configuration window, click the Other tab.

  3. From the Chassis Intrusion drop-down menu, click Not Detected.

  4. Click Save.
NOTE: The chassis intrusion alert for server systems cannot be disabled and is cleared when the chassis cover is replaced.

Enabling System Password Security

NOTE: Only client systems support this feature. Password security on server systems is enabled by default.

System password security is enabled when you set up or modify user information for the local or a remote system. Password security is implemented entirely by Dell™ instrumentation and is not based on operating system security or network security.

See "User Setup for Systems and Remote Access Hardware."

IT Assistant Services Security

When you start IT Assistant, you are prompted with the Logon Information dialog box, which enables you to specify the user rights under which you will use IT Assistant. The user rights are:

When using IT Assistant, the current user access rights display in the lower right corner of the screen, next to the printer icon.

  1. Log in to IT Assistant with read-write access.

  2. On the IT Assistant navigation tree, expand the Options branch and click Change IT Assistant Password.

  3. In the Change IT Assistant <Read-Write> Password dialog box, specify the new password, confirm it in the next field, and then click OK.
