Overview

IT Assistant enables you to connect to and manage Dell™ PowerVault™ storage devices attached to Dell PowerEdge™ servers by allowing you to launch a storage management application from the IT Assistant interface. IT Assistant is configured by default to use Dell OpenManage Array Manager as its storage management application.

Array Manager provides a comprehensive solution to storage management in an integrated graphical view. Through a common interface, Array Manager lets you configure and manage local and remote storage attached to a server while the server is online and continuing to process requests.

Connecting to Dell PowerVault Storage Devices

You can connect to a PowerVault storage device by launching the currently configured storage management application against a system with attached storage. By default, the management application is Dell OpenManage Array Manager.

To connect to a specific storage enclosure, perform the following steps:

  1. In the IT Assistant navigation tree, expand the Views branch and click Systems.

  2. In the systems window, click a system in the system tree.

  3. Click the Status tab.

If the system is equipped with attached storage, the status tree displays a root entry named Disk Storage.

  4. In the status tree, click Disk Storage.

  5. To the right of the status tree, click Manage Disk Storage.

The disk storage application launches against the selected system.
