- Preparations for Ontario Universities Fair
- This year's Ontario Universities Fair is going to be held at the Toronto Convention Centre from 30 September to 2 October.
- As in last year, we wish to have faculty members man the CS booth. We will try to have undergrad student volunteers as well.
- We will distribute the SCS brochure that was developed and we will check with Peter Forsyth if he wants B.CFM brochures to be distribute das well.
- We will coordinate with Gayle Goodfellow.
- Action Item: Tamer will send email to faculty and give a short presentation at the SCS Council to get volunteers. He will also try to get student volunteers.
- We will need to work on strategies for two issues:
- How to increase the number of applications to SCS undergraduate programs.
- How to increase the uptake (i.e., those who accept our offer among those who receive our offer).
- To increase the number of applications, we need to study each of the following carefully:
- Initiatives to get higher numbers of students Ontario high schools
- Initiatives for high school students
- Initiatives for high school teachers
- Initiatives to get higher numbers of Canadian students from outside Ontario
- Initiatives to get higher numbers of foreign students
- Initiatives to get higher numbers of students Ontario high schools
- We will study each of these one-by-one
- We will need to coordinate with Tina Roberts at the Registrar's Office (she is Director of Marketing and Undergraduate Recruiting) and with Sandy Graham for activities directed to high school teachers.
- Action Item: We will start discussions on the initiatives for high school students at the next meeting.
- The Committee will meet every Tuesday between 9:30-10:30 in DC 3540.
