FAQs
Q: I have found an error in the degree audit! What do I do?
A: First, notify the advisor who approved that plan. They will notify us of the issue if it needs addressing
Q: Does the degree audit take into account the triple counting rule?
A: Degree Audit does not currently handle the triple counting rule. It is not impossible to code, it is just too computationally strenuous to run in a reasonable amount of time. However, if you check out the “Used By” column on the transcript (located to the right of the degree audit), you will see some numbers for each course. These correspond to the rules that the course was used to satisfy. If you see more than 3 numbers here then you should check to see if the audit is in violation of that triple counting rule.
So why is the triple counting rule so hard? It’s not hard to check whether the displayed assignment of courses to requirements violates the triple counting rule. That’s what’s describe above. The hard part is showing that ALL assignments of courses to requirements violate the triple counting rule.
Q: This student was allowed to use course A in place of course B. Why don’t they pass?
A: Currently, the degree audit does not handle course substitutions but this is a feature we hope to implament in the future!
Q: What are you planning to add in the future?
A: Great Question! We hope to implement some of the following aspects in the future:
- Averages for Minors and Options
- Finding new ways to capture “impossible” requirements
- Advisor manual substitutions
- Better display of the audit
