NOTE: The Dell™ PowerEdge™ 1655MC system supports disk mirroring (RAID 1) if two hard drives are installed in the server module. |
Remote Install has two built-in RAID package files to set up the RAID configuration: one for creating disk mirroring and one for deleting the mirror and partitioning it into two separate disks. These package files are named PE1655MC_createMirror.zip and PE1655MC_deleteMirror.zip.
In Remote Install version 1.1, these RAID packages are imported automatically when you install the software; you do not need to manually install RAID packages.
To use any other RAID package, you must first import the package into Remote Install, and then apply the package to the target systems.

NOTICE: It is recommended that you always perform a capture for backup before applying a RAID package to a system. |

NOTE: You can apply RAID packages to systems that are in the Admin and Wait for Deployment states only. |

NOTE: The PowerEdge 1655MC system has two SCSI hard drives with SCSI IDs originally set to 0 and 1. Remote Install's disk mirror RAID package is designed for this preset setting. If you adjust the jumper of the physical hard drives, the SCSI ID changes and the disk mirror package is no longer valid. Ensure the physical hard drives are connected to SCSI 0 and 1 when installing the disk mirror RAID package. |

NOTE: If only one hard drive is in a PowerEdge 1655MC server module, the Remote Install RAID packages for creating a disk mirror and deleting a disk mirror do not function. |
See also "RAID→ Configure RAID."
To verify if a RAID package has been successfully installed, observe the target system console during system boot; disk information displays on the screen. If the create disk mirror package runs successfully, information about only one hard drive is displayed. If the delete mirror package runs successfully, information about two hard drives is displayed. For details about the RAID configuration, go to the Remote Install RAID configuration page. You can also check the RAID configuration by pressing <Ctrl><m> during system boot.
