Common Odyssey Submission Problems
The following are solutions to some issues that repeatedly troubled students over the course of the past term. Students may manage to run into even stranger problems with Odyssey, in which case your ISC is a good source of assistance.
Odyssey says 0 files were successfully transferred when the student tries to submit.
If the student has uploaded his/her files and hit the submit button but Odyssey refuses to accept the submission, there are two likely causes. The first: the student has illegal characters in one or more of his/her Scheme files, perhaps from copying text from the Interactions window of DrScheme to the Definitions window. To check for this quickly, simply open the Scheme files in a text editor, and look for weird characters.
The second possibility is that the student is trying to submit too many files. Students are told that they can choose between the .ss or .scm extensions, but some mistakenly think they need to submit one of each. Check the student's submission directory to make sure that there is only one file for each question.
The student cannot see any links when logged in to Odyssey.
The cause of this issue might be as simple as using capital letters in the username instead of entering it entirely in lowercase. Ask the student to try logging in with only lowercase letters in their username.
