CS 848 (Fall 2006) Paper Presentation Information

Each student will be expected to present 2-3 papers over the course of the term. There will be a total of 50 minutes in class for each paper. The presentation itself should last for 25 minutes, with the remaining time reserved for discussion.

When preparing your presentation, keep in mind that your audience will have already read the paper that you are presenting. Your presentation should

remind your audience of what problem is addressed in the paper and why that problem is important, and
identify what you feel are the most significant and important observations, ideas, and results in the paper, and
put the paper in context, and
raise issues for discussion.

Here are some sample slide sets from previous offerings of CS848:

The slides for your presentation are due by 10:00am on the day you are presenting. Submit your presentation by e-mailing the slides to the instructor. Send your slide set as a single PPT or PDF file attached to your mail message. Chose a meaningful subject for your message. Something like "CS848 slides for paper foba06" would be good.

Presentation slides will be made available to the class via the course web site.

All students (not just the presenter) are expected participate in the discussion of the paper. Come to class prepared with some questions and comments.
