The instructor(s) helped me to understand the course concepts. |
- [Strongly Agree] well provided analogies on some of the concepts that may be harder to grasp.
Note: This is a complete list of comments I received, listed alphabetically to avoid bias.
The most important thing I learned in this course was: |
- CSS and HTML
- Excel
- excel functions
- Fundamentals of Computer Science
- How HTTP works and how HTML is programmed.
- How to buy a laptop
- How to use certain formulas in Excel as well as how to use HTML
- how to use computer
- How to use Excel
- how to use excel
- How to use Excel more efficiently
- How to use HTML and Excel efficiently.
- I learned about HTML and CSS which I found very interesting and useful.
- Pretty basic stuff
- That coding does not have to be over complicated so now I will proceed to teach myself further code!!
- The components that make up the World Wide Web (www). From the internet to the history of www, to HTML and Microsoft Excel growth and experience, this course allowed me to understand the background of modern technology and learn to create in-depth HTML pages, and spreadsheets from Excel and problem-solve in an online capacity.
- the excel functions were very helpful to know.
- Time management
- Tips to be more effective when using Excel.
- Was not a specific aspect since all of the information learned in this course was very important and useful!
- Web development skills
What helped me to learn in this course was: |
- A lot of useful analogies to understand the processes being taught
- doing the assignments
- examples
- Fully online course
- Google............
- HTML
- none
- Reading lecture
- The assignments
- The assignments.
- The course videos!
- The example
- The lecture videos were very entertaining and informative. It helped me to be engaged and curious about the content.
- The modules are succinct and concise
- The short answer questions that we had to answer in our own words instead of repeating the lecture material helped to improve my understanding on the material.
- The small length videos and how clear and concise the teaching was. This helped me really understand harder concepts learned and improved my learning as a result.
- The video lessons and the really detailed assignment instructions.
- The videos and modules.
- The wonderful video narrations and lecture content allowed my growth in CS-100 to be experienced to the maximum. Additionally, helpful TAs and staff boosted my learning and education of the subjects observed.
- Time management and having interest in the. topics being taught.
- videos
- YouTube
What changes, if any, would I suggest for this course? |
- I would suggest a change in the grade breakdown. In my opinion, a 50% final seems a bit overwhelming, so adding a midterm would help.
- It would be nice to open the content for each module earlier so that some students can get ahead, such as opening the content for next week on the Friday before or something. Some weeks can be more hectic than others so it would have been nice to be able to get a head start.
- Keep more videos and less readings.
- Make this a physical course so that people can understand than having to do it online since we are going back in person.
- Maybe cluster some assignments together to allow for more flexibility
- Maybe even out the workload a little bit, some weeks were very light while others were a lot heavier.
- More weight given to the assignments. 50% final is a little overkill for a course such as CS100
- n/a
- N/A
- No final in-person exam. An in person exam for an online course is very inconvenient and I feel that with this course having an online exam or final assessment would be just as useful.
- None
- none
- none.
- Not having the final exam worth 50% and having to pass it to pass the course - some people do not test well and it being in person for an online course makes it much harder, especially with all the quizzes and assignments throughout the term being open book is very stressful.
- Not posting passive aggressive messages on LEARN, ie "if you don't want to write an exam"
- nothing this course was awesome!
- overall good
- Some units are much longer than others.
- Sometimes the coding wouldn't work which will result in lost marks in the assignments. Maybe and FAQ or a page of the most common errors in HTML and excel, as well as how to debug it would be extremely helpful especially if you are not sure why your code is not working.
- - The weekly assignments were very heavy. I don't think it was necessary to have MCs, long answer and another application question (excel sheet, html code). I think if the assignment had that application question, the other parts were not needed as the whole thing together took way to much time.
- I didn't understand why some of the assignments included things that weren't taught in the lectures
- Giving us an example/practice questions for the exam from the start so we can make our notes throughout the term adequately. We don't have any information about the exam and I'm beginning to stress as it's a few weeks until the exam and I have no idea how/what to study or if my notes are going to be helpful.
- Not sure why we need an in person exam when the course is online? I think it would make more sense too being online as this is a CS course
