Note: This is a complete list of comments I received, listed alphabetically to avoid bias.
The most important thing I learned in this course was: |
- Coding
- Computer science is not for me.
- cyber security
- Everything was important. It was a very good basis course.
- Excel
- excel formulas
- excel stuff
- Excel tools and ability
- Fundamentals to how computers and technology work!
- How to effectively use excel.
- How to use excel
- How to use excel
- How to use excel and understand basic html and creating websites. Also I finally learned how people make quizzes online. It made me feel very interested in this course.
- how to use excel properly
- How to use Excel with more proficiency
- How to use excel, and to code
- How to use html
- I learned how terrible with computers I actually am, but I also found some pretty cool things with Excel, and know more now for when I go to buy my next computer.
- I learned new excel skills that I feel like can be applied to many areas of my interest. Html was also very fun and useful
- In depth about the World Wide Web and how it all works
- New skills regarding computer operations
- Not really syre. Liked HTML/CSS though
- self study with limited resources
- Spreadsheets
- The basics of CS and Excel.
- the excel stuff was very useful.
- Various geographical persepctives
- webpages
What helped me to learn in this course was: |
- Being able to search for the exact information I needed in the provided readings. The videos were not as helpful.
- Clear videos and easy to use and learn modules
- Desire to graduate
- doing the weekly modules
- Don’t know
- Engaging prof
- I loved the videos because they were engaging and helped me understand the concepts better through exemplars.
- I really enjoyed the mix between the videos and reading parts. Plus also having the transcript allowed anyone to learn the way they wanted to.
- My friends who explained things to me
- my own time management
- My peers
- My TAs. The tas were so awesome and helped a lot when it came to office hours and difficulties (especially with uploading assignment 3,4,7,8,9 as that was incredibly confusing to me, and often did not work the 1st time around.
- taking notes and having them on hand for assignments
- the assigments
- The course notes and websites. I liked how the videos explained concepts in easy ways to understand
- The discussion board and YouTube videos were great.
- The in detail video lectures used to teach.
- The modules
- the modules and videos!
- The online videos/modules
- The videos
- The videos and step-by-step instructions.
Online resources like w3schools
- The videos made for the course work, and office hours helped me a lot. Hours are very flexible and the ISAs were very helpful.
- The videos with voice overs showing and telling me what to do for some assignments.
- video tutorials/visual examples
- videos and tutorial work
- Watching the tutorial videos
What changes, if any, would I suggest for this course? |
- As excel is a bit difficult, it would be great if more in depth videos or content were covered to fully grasp the content about each excel function. I still struggle with each of the functions and how they should be applied. Otherwise it was a very fun course.
- Don’t know
- Due to the course being online it might be better to provide both an online video as well as its transcript for all modules
- Get a new set of TAs who don't take off marks for some random stuff.
- Have a separate file for notes on top of videos
- I didn't like CS (required course) but this course was actually very interesting. The only module that was a little unclear was CSS, specifically with padding, div, and making boxes
- I suggest making all the lessons into videos! Personally when I had to read the content I struggled a bit more. The videos were great and it really help my understanding of the course content.
- I think I needed better explanations for the assignments. Half the time I was confused.
- I wish I had a little more practice with converting numbers to different base systems. Otherwise loved the course.
- I would suggest that some topics be made more clear, such as CSS. The reading was setup in a way that barely explained what it was or how to use it.
- I'd prefer if this course was in person. I found the exercises difficult and would prefer to have actual time in person with profs instead of just office hours
- Instead of having articles to read, have more videos demonstrating an example of how to do it. Especially when its an online course
- Make it in person and lower exam weighting
- male it in person
- Maybe don't have the course online as it was hard to ask questions, and I didn't feel as inclined to do the course because I found I was teaching myself a lot of the information.
- modules need to be better and ISA's need to be more enthusiastic about what they are teaching. Work Loads are too high especially for an online class
- More videos for the HTML and CSS sections, further work on those modules are needed.
- n/a
- N/A
- N/A
- No changes
- No more excel
- none, it has high workload but is manageable if you stay on top of it
- Show more examples of how to use the formulas in excel and also more of the code when doing the websites.
- Some of the lessons help with the multiple choice/short answers of the quiz but have little applicable information for the bigger questions (specially the excel spreadsheets). Having more examples and explanations of how each function works would help.
- teaching shortcuts for excel, for one of the assignments I didn't know we could autofill quickly, I was dragging my mouse all the way down to select everything to autofill
