The course content was well-organized and clearly explained. |
- [Agree] The first and second part of the course material was fair and clearly explained with videos with demonstrations. The HTML portion of the course could use some more examples to more clearly illustrate what different tags do.
The assessments contributed to my learning. |
- [Strongly Agree] The website making assignments were really helpful for learning the basic codes and also the most fun
Note: This is a complete list of comments I received, listed alphabetically to avoid bias.
The most important thing I learned in this course was: |
- Honestly, a very fun course; all the content was relatively easy, which meant I felt no pressure to do anything but actually learn it. Lots of useful stuff I would've otherwise remained ignorant to.
- How basic websites are made with HTML and CSS
- How to code with HTML
- How to write html and css files.
- HTML
- Html and css coding
- HTML coding and expanded my knowledge with Excel
- - i found the modules to be quite interesting and a good thorough introduction to CS, like the introduction to excel and HTML
- I learned the most basic knowledge about the computer
- learning the many techniques of excel (i.e. functions, filters, charts) are very useful in the job market.
- more advanced excel functions (GoalSeek, pivot table, vlookup). I learned it in the past, but the course really taught me to apply it not only in school, but outside of school as well
- the brief common knowledge about how computer works and internet works
- The important of IT infrastructure and the makeup of a computer.
- Time management and being confident in my answers.
- Using various functions in excel. Most importantly, I learned the basics of HTML webpages which was all new to me.
- What a computer, the internet, a router, etc. actually are and how they communicate/work together.
What helped me to learn in this course was: |
- Although it was challenging, the assignment C's were integral to the learning curve, especially when cs100 is the first ever computer course taken
- Doing practice assignments (Excel and HTML)
- my general interest in computers and computer applications
- My past experience and course materials
- Part C in the assignment is really helpful for me.
- Straightforward and well organized course content (the website)
- The fun lecture videos, the examples put out in those videos were cute references, and get a good chuckle out of me when watching them, keeping me engaged
- the lecture
- The organization of the course content and the little jokes made by the prof helped in making the course more enjoyable.
- The professors funny jokes integrated throughout the course and engaging material
- - the quizzes and assignments
- The videos along with the transcripts. I cannot watch videos without captions, so the transcript was very helpful for notes and understanding.
- The weekly assignments
- The weekly quiz and assignment are very good. They can check my understanding of the course content.
- weekly assignments
What changes, if any, would I suggest for this course? |
- Add more content
- For the T/F question, it will be nice to have the correct answer when the answer is false.
- I believe the course prepared me well for all assignments!
- I hope to add some group work to the course. In this way, the interaction between students can be increased.
- I think more videos especially in the last modules (HTML/CSS) would have been useful!
- I would suggest having video lectures for the HTML portion of the course if possible; that, or clearer explanations of the tags used in HTMLs by the use of more examples. Towards the end of the CSS section, I would find it differentiate HTML codes from other texts due to how similar they look, so perhaps a change of font or format for the HTML and CSS code content could help.
- less assginment
- - maybe a bit less work, 3 assignments per week was quite overkill
- na
- None
- none
- None- all expectations for learning were clearly outlined and concise.
- Some more direct examples for the HTML portions of the course would be helpful (e.g. actual HTML files we can look at)
