I can understand that the army does not want to pay the "broken dishes" 
and would prefer, and press for, some sort of development of the Chiapas 
situation which does not imply they are "represive and evil".  But have 
they really deprived the government of the card to play?  What about the 
executions in Ocosingo market, the destruction of personal belongings in the 
villages the took control of, and, above all, permiting the government to 
use them to arrest Marcos et al. when that was the job of police forces?  
I think that they could want to be as far away form civil disputes as 
possible (including this civil-military of Chiapas), but I can't still 
believe that if ordered will refuse to pull the trigger.
