A Simple Proof of Skula's Theorem on Prime Power Divisors of Mersenne Numbers

Abstract:
Recently, Skula proved an interesting result concerning the equivalence
between higher order Wieferich primes and prime power divisors of
Mersenne numbers. In the present paper, we provide a simple proof of
Skula's result.
