CS 888, Spring 2012 - Implicit Surfaces

Much of surface modeling is done using triangle meshes and splines surfaces. Implicit surfaces provide an alternative for such modeling. In this seminar course, we will study implicit surfaces, focussing on recent developments in the field.

Course Structure

CS 888 is a seminar course. This term, we will study papers on implicit surfaces, possibly learning some material from text books. Students attending the course (for a grade, for an audit, or just sitting in) are required to present one paper during the term. In addition, students taking the course for credit will be required to complete a course project.

Grading

Students taking the course for credit will be marking according the following scheme:
  • 40% paper presentation
  • 40% project
  • 20% participation
The participation mark is half based on attendance and half based on participation. Details on how the paper presentation and project will be marked are detailed in other sections.

Points will be deducted from your participation mark for using laptop computer, cell phone, etc., during class.
