To the editor:

Like psychic Sandee Ryan, interviewed in your December 31 front page
article, I too have a prediction.

Here it is: despite a promise by editor-in-chief Lynn Haddrall to
cover stories more scientifically, in 2004 the Record will continue to
feature pseudoscience stories. There will be little or no effort to
interview scientists or skeptics who might offer a rational refutation
of self-proclaimed psychics, dowsers, and purveyors of quack medicine.

I predict the Record will continue its slide towards sensationalism.
I'd like to be proved wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.
