CS886 Statistical Learning Theory

Structure of the course and marking
The course is based on lectures by myself. One goal is to get students involved in research. Students will carry out projects, the hope is that some of these projects will result in research papers (in one of the top machine learning venues). However, projects that survey research in some subarea will also be welcome.
Textbook
We will use the book Machine Learning-From Theory to Algorithms by Shai Ben-David and Shai Shalev-Shwartz for the course. This book is currently under preparation. Introductory chapters can be found here. Additional chapers will be distributed in class.
